Thursday, July 16, 2026 — TSMC’s $100B Arizona flex, credit spreads pinned at nothing, and a weird CFTC probe into a teleprompter guy trading Trump statements.

TSMC -2.6% — they’re throwing another $100B at Arizona fabs and the stock still can’t catch a bid. The issue is, nobody knows if this is strategic or just political insurance. Record Q2 profit, raised long-term gross margin guidance — analysts are bullish. But the tape is saying “show me the ROI on that $100B first.” Good signal on demand, bad signal on capex discipline. NVDA -2% — KeyCorp is out previewing Q1 earnings and the semis are leaking. This is a TSM sympathy move, but also a reminder that AI chip expectations are sky-high and fragile. 10Y yield 4.583%, real yield 2.33% — rates grinding higher while breakevens slip to 2.23%. The bond market is pricing tighter Fed, not hotter growth. Watch this. BBB OAS at 0.97bp, high yield OAS flat at 2.72bp — credit spreads are basically asleep. Not sure people appreciate how much complacency is baked into these levels. One shock and this reprices fast.
