BYD is actively increasing its localization in Brazilian plant. It will be doing more battery assembly this yr as battery cell imports get assembled into modules & packs both for EVs & ESS.
Brazil govt is helping that along by pressuring BYD w/ preferential import rate expiry.
Ultimately, BYD does have core tech that it will keep in China, that is the battery cell themselves & also the high density LFP cathode supply chain. But outside of that, most of this stuff can be made in overseas plant. — via @tphuang
