IRAN TENSION : TRUMP SIGNALS HEAVY STRIKES AS IRGC CLAIMS US MQ - 9 DRONE SHOT DOWN NEAR HORMUZ

What happened: Trump said the US is "unleashing very heavy strikes against Iran" economically and militarily, while Iran's IRGC claimed it shot down a US MQ-9 drone near Hormuz. Why it matters: Trump cited minimal Russian and Chinese aid to Iran and said Putin has "distanced himself" from Tehran, which he called positive. Analysts do not rule out Trump changing his stated position against attacking Iran before the US midterms.
