JPMorgan's first quantified Bitcoin forecast of 10% annual returns signals major institutional coverage.
Context
What happened: J.P. Morgan Asset Management projected a 10% compound annual return for Bitcoin over 10 to 15 years in its 2027 Long-Term Capital Market Assumptions, the first edition of the report
Why it matters: The forecast tops the firm's projections for U.S. large-cap stocks, gold and a 60/40 portfolio, but JPMorgan left Bitcoin out of its main portfolio models, citing volatility and unstable correlations, and called the currency debasement bull case "wide of the mark." Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan argued the 55% volatility assumption is too high, making the return forecast too conservative.
