I always thought I'd settle down in Canada. Living in Japan for a year changed my mind.

What happened: A Canadian who grew up in Ottawa spent a year in Japan on a Working Holiday Visa and now says the experience changed his plan to settle down in Canada. Why it matters: He returns to Canada when his visa ends but plans to keep traveling, including Southeast Asia, and no longer expects to settle back into life in Ottawa as he once assumed. Key numbers: One year in Japan; visa ends in a couple of months; he is in his 20s.
